Ramadan Sisters: Do you know your status in Islam? ((Read more in details))?

Assalaam Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatahu

The status of the Muslim woman in Islaam is a very noble and lofty one, and her effect is very great in the life of every Muslim. Indeed, the Muslim woman is the initial teacher in the building of a righteous society, providing she follows the guidance from the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Since adherence to the Qur’aan and the Sunnah distances every Muslim – male or female – from being misguided in any matter…

The secret of her importance lies in the tremendous burden and responsibility that is placed upon her, and the difficulties that she has to shoulder – responsibilities and difficulties some of which not even a man bears. This is why from the most important obligations upon a person is to show gratitude to the mother, and kindness and good companionship with her. And in this matter, she is to be given precedence over and above the father…

A man came to Allaah’s Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said: O Messenger of Allaah! Who from amongst mankind warrants the best companionship from me? He replied: “Your mother.” The man asked: Then who? So he replied: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So the Prophet replied again: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So he replied: “Then your father.” [Related by al-Bukhaaree (no.5971) and Muslim (7/2), from Abu Hurayrah radiallaahu ‘anhu]. So this necessitates that the mother is given three times the like of kindness and good treatment than the father.

As regards the wife, then her status and her effect in making the soul tranquil and serene, has been clearly shown in the noble aayah (verse), in His – the Most High’s – saying:

“And from amongst His Signs is this: That He created for you wives from amongst yourselves, so that you may find serenity and tranquility in them. And He has put between you love and compassion. Indeed, in this are signs for those who reflect.” [Soorah Room 30:21].

…And do not forget about ‘Aaishah – radiallaahu ‘anhaa – and her great effect. Since even the great Sahaabah (Companions) used to take knowledge of Hadeeth from her, and many of the Sahaabiyaat (female Companions) learn the various rulings pertaining to women’s issues from her…

And I have no doubt that my mother – may Allaah shower His mercy upon her – had a tremendous effect upon me, in encouraging me to study; and she assisted me in it. May Allaah greatly increase her reward and reward her with the best of rewards for what she did for me.

And there is no doubt also, that the house in which there is kindness, gentleness, love and care, along with the correct Islaamic tarbiyah (education and cultivation) will greatly affect the man. So he will become – if Allaah wills – successful in his affairs and in any matter – whether it be seeking knowledge, trading, earning a living, or other than this. So it is Allaah alone that I ask to grant success and to guide us all to that which He loves and is pleased with. And may the prayers and peace of Allaah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his Family, his Companions and his followers.

Robert asks…

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY STORY?

I know I already made a question like this, but I want to know if you are interested in my concept, and why? I need feedback dang it, constructive feedback, not just, “oh that sounds nice.” or “this is a load of rubbish!” Reasons please.

Story Name: (I’m thinking of one. It’s either “The Odd Crew” or I may think of something else.)
Genre: Action/Adventure/Humor
Character(s): Sir Leonardo Chandler, Berry Lewis, Holly Wreath, Don Finicky, Parmita Mehta, Eziquiel El Alarico, Kaito Oshiro, Rupert Stone.

-This is a story about choosing your own path in life, but even so not a lot of people go to college with just one career choice in mind and stick with it. You may find the path under your feet literally stripped from you, or others forcing you to walk one undesired or preventing you from your desired path in life, but it’s up to you to get around those boundaries.

-Just about all the main characters are from different backgrounds or race, and I plan on having every primary or most important antagonist characters to have a developed back story to explain what drives their motivations.

Main Protagonist- 17 year old, named Berry Lewis. He’s also black; different from your usual main protagonist. He’s a care-free, open minded, amusing type of character, which draws in loyal companions. He can fight, but he doesn’t have super human strength or anything, but he has a very strong will, and the help of his friends.

Story- Follows main protagonist, Berry Lewis through his journey to become a successful merchant. He had just left the stage of apprenticeship, so he’s new to the trade. Though hardship arises both on sea and overland from pirates to thieves, and of course problems like war, being accused of being a witch/wizard from superstitious town’s people, dealing with consequences of making a bad deal with the leprechaun mafia, and even vengeful mermaids angered by pollution caused by humans, but sometimes the struggle can lead to a very rewarding outcome in the end.

-I don’t want a main character who always saves the day alone with mere side kicks helping a bit. And he isn’t your manly man hero, always up for saving the world. And im not interested in writing about an orphan boy who figures out a secret bloodline or magic, so don’t expect that in this story.

-This story embodies themes I find very important to me such as friendship, family, the importance of love, doing whats right even if it is a pain, coming over your fears, and choosing your own path in life.

-Also I plan to have strong girls too, not looking weak because all the males are over powered with super human strength.(I hate that!)

-There are no guns in my story, sorry. And the story contains elements similar to medieval era and early middle ages era, but there will be spoofs of the era also to add a more comedic feel.

1) Does my story at least interest you?
2) What do you think of my main character?
3) Do you think my story is overdone, unoriginal?
4) What do you think of my attempt of at a culturally diverse cast?
5) Do you think this story would appeal to the public?
6) What do you think of main character who may not be the strongest out there, but using different means, can overcome his obstacles and with the help of his friends?
There is a reason that the characters are diverse, it’s important, but I won’t go into it, it’s too long.

Creating the plot is the hardest part for me. I guess it will come to me once I start writing.

Any advice people?
I figured out a plot.

Berry hopes that one day, he’ll be able to open up a “Merchant Ship” or something of the sort.(Im thinking, some shop that travels) He’s called a dreamer and laughed at when other merchants hear his goals.

But there’s alot of conflict in the world, and he has to get past that in order to open his dream shop.

A ship which travels the world, sailing rare items

John answers:

Okay, so I’ll answer your questions instead of giving you a summary of what I think.

1) What IS your story line? You haven’t really told us what it’s about. You’ve given us a brief synopsis of some of the events of your main character’s life, but not the actual story line. “His journey to become a successful merchant” doesn’t tell me what the main plot/theme of your story is, it just gives me setting in which the story will occur. If I knew what the story line is, I could tell you if I would be interested in reading it.

2) Your characters are well developed and very colorful. You’ve done good job describing the history and era in which your character emerges and I understand exactly what influences him to act the way he does/will.

3) I still don’t know what your story will be. If you mean by writing in the genre of fantasy/sci fi, then there is no way you can be “overdone” if there is a market for it. As for unoriginal, you would be hard pressed to find a main plot that IS original (good vs. Evil, overcoming adversity, etc., it’s all been done before) but that should not deter you. As long as your story is unique.

4) You are trying too hard to please everyone who may pick up your book. Stay true to your vision of your characters and let them develop. You may find that their appearances change as you write their story. Don’t pigeonhole yourself.

5) If I knew what the story was, I could be more specific. It would also depend on your writing style. No matter how good a story is, if the writing is bad, nobody will read it. The opposite holds true also – an awful story can float on really good writing.

6) People will easily relate to your main character, which is fantastic. He will be ‘unperfect’ like the rest of us and your readers will (hopefully!) be able to see themselves in him. Jusst make sure that their relationships are solid enough to endure whatever crises you are planning to put him through.

IN SUMMARY: It seems you have a knack for character development, which is really crucial to the success of any book. I’d like to see what your writing style is and what your plot will be. Keep up the good work and good luck in your writing!

EDIT: You need to have a plot before you can start writing or your story will drift and be extraordinarily scattered. You’ve developed a great cast of characters so use them to start creating your story. I wouldn’t suggest asking others for plot advice as it’s YOUR story, YOUR characters, and only you can decide their course of actions. Good luck!
