Mary asks…

Has GW Bush/Cheney made a mockery of the Republican party and the United States?

I feel bad for the people of that party for being highjacked by criminals!

At one time Republicans could at least be respected even if you disagreed with their political stance on any given subject!

Now they have a leader who opposes the constitution and civil liberties of the people.

Your supreme leader has betratyed your base and left all of you in a position to support their lawlessness or look like betrayors of your party!

Thankfully there are some Republicans in Congress who oppose this abomination!

Maybe more of you need to mobilize against this lawlessness to benefit your party’s future and your country’s!
Heart and Troll: #1. Warrantless wiretapping. #2. Arresting people without charge, without the right to an attorney, indefinitely. #3. Abusing the power and intent of Executive Privilege.
Then there is infringing on articles of the Geneva Convention. Many of you try to argue that the Conventions are insignificant. Evidently you don’t realize that the U.S. was predominately responsible for their creation!! Then there’s many of you that say that the UN not approving of the U.S. invasion of Iraq doesn’t matter because now you want to say the UN isn’t relevant but in the same breath use Saddam not abiding by UN resolutions as a justification for invading it! So which is it? Is the UN significant or not?
H&T: If you’re looking for Articles and Amendments let’s start with the 4th Amendment!

John answers:

Americans made the mistake of allowing Bush and Cheney to take office and allowing the Bush administration to wreck the US economy. Bush has betrayed the distracted and unaware American people. China is attempting to crash the dollar. On 21 August, Bush will sign away the sovereignity of the United States with the second phase of the globalisation of the Americas called the NAU–North America Union. Fourteen state legislatures are trying to stop this. This week we may face the worse financial crisis in our history, equalled onlyy by the dpression in the 1930’s. Americans need to wake up. They’re not ignorant, they’re confused and don’t want to face their situation. Something has to be done. Here is what some are saying:

The destruction of the United States may continue if the financial markets teeter or crash next week. I believe that the plan is to weaken the United States until the American people capitulate and allow the globalists to do what they want, which is:

the destruction of the U.S. Constitution
disarming the average citizen
collapse of the US economy
collapse of the US borders
collapse of American confidence
the electorate confused with propaganda and slanted media
destruction of the American middle class

Unfortunately, there are fears out there that our economy could tank next week. The Fed had to prop-up the stock market three times Friday with billions of dollars. Monday could be a bear.

Fed Orders 2 Trillion Dollars Printed, Put In Circulation
Three separate sources in the U.S. Treasury have told me that this week, the federal reserve ordered TWO TRILLION dollars to be printed! The U.S. Treasury is allegedly running printing presses 24/7 to accommodate that order. Treasury employees were specifically ORDERED not to talk about this to anyone because it could cause economic collapse.

Central banks on both sides of the Atlantic pumped billions into the financial system to calm nerves over an impending credit crunch yesterday – but their actions only served to heighten alarm, leading to a fresh plunge in global share prices.

The fading dollar can be held responsible for our troubles. It isn’t the dollar’s fault, because it is merely a piece of paper, which is un-backed, and the product of a printing press. It is those who administer and spend it recklessly, who have caused its demise, and who are wrecking our economy and nation. What repercussions does a dollar debasement have? Remember, it is in no way the fault of the citizenry. It is totally the fault of government and the D.C. Gang. All of us are merely the victims. Thank you, Mr. Bush.

Every passing day, this new world order, this so called “free trade”, is eroding 150 years of the hard won gains for American small business and employees, but very few people seem to care. How effective the propaganda has been. Americans don’t know who they are anymore.

What do American citizens do next? Give-up or fight?

George asks…

Why is the media spending so much time on WYD?

While Kevin and his mates try to slip through their dodgy emissions trading papers?
Now we know why labour were so keen on sponsoring the whole thing.

John answers:

The media is spending such a rediculous amount of airtime on WYD because theyve been told to. The government, majorityh xtians alas, has made this event so big to push their own xtian agenda. NO to gay marriage is but one of the things civilized people would abolish but the xtians in power wont do it. Howard and Rudd are both members of the same church. There is nothing but collusion and right wing xtian agendas in Australian politics. Just look at the draconian laws put into place to protect these “tourists” the rights to protest and free speech quashed in favour of a 2000yo novel.
Keep your eyes peeled for more of this nonsense in the future.

Joseph asks…

What are the ecommerce implications of an artificial neural network?

Ok so i am doing this research paper on how neural networks can help marketers better their campaigns by recognizing trends and forecasting key information. What are some other implications of neural networks as far as online marketing is concerned.

Thanks

John answers:

Given sufficient data nueral networks doing data mining could be the one true solution to spam/junk mail. Broadcast methods are expensive and annoying. If you recieve advertising would you not want it to be relitive to you? I don’t mind junk mail that offers serverices and products I might actually use, and the fact I am bombarded by offers I do not have the slightest interest in. Already dumb data mining is used heavily in fund raising campaigns. There are crude attempts to guess a contributer’s patterns and maximize contributions that way. If requests are oversent it causes the contributer to burn out. To gain a negitive conotation for the charity/organization which over targets them. They begin to feel less like a supporter and more like a sucker.

This kind of pattern recognition and very specific interest targeting if implimented well could turn marketing from a trade considered less reputable than hookers into a respected and valuable skill.

Why would nural networks suceed over conventional queries? Nueral networks are capable of learning and doing more than applying rigid rule based logic. Nueral nets are capable of context awareness. So for example I personally hate Microsoft products. As such offers about deals on Windows software are actually offensive to me. I would love to hear about offers dealing with Linux or platform independent software however. Broad based catagories are useless when you are dealing with marketing. A concept marketeers fail to understand for some reason. Software is not software. Software comes in a zillion types and flavors. One gun manufacturer earned the hatred of gun enthusiests at one point. Thus sending marketing about this manufactuer would be offensive to many gun lovers. Again an example of even a more specific catagory being useless when it came down to the actual marketing. This context awareness is crucial in creating the sucessfull marketing campaigns of the future. Each year the public becomes less and less tolerent twoards shotgun marketing. Spam has damaged people personally. Crammed mailboxes so full that important and essential email is missed or cannot even be delivered. Mailboxes stuffed to the brim with offers which do not apply at all to the reciever. Whole forests of trees are sacraficed to such waste. People are just not going to take such tactics much longer.

Nancy asks…

What are things that would be valuable in a post-apocalyptic world?

What are some material things that would be the most valuable in a post-apocalyptic world? I am writing a story set 50ish years after a nuclear holocaust that wiped out the majority of the world. Part of the story centres on a group of raiders that come into the ruins of a city where the protagonist lives and they are searching for things that are either valuable (trading and what not to other people or using for themselves). I need some examples for things that would be of value to them. Remember it’s 50 years in the future

John answers:

Well, there is obviously food, water, medicine, gasoline, lights, ammunition/guns, and stuff to build shelters but there a lot of things we wouldn’t think about other than basic necessities. Some stuff that we wouldn’t often think about are things that help make us “feel” human. A big one is soap, having mud, dust, and grime on you makes you feel like an animal, being clean is rejuvenating and makes you “feel” like you are retaining your humanity. Other things like this are books, dice (for gambling and such), makeup (there could be a girl lol), things for writing (pencils, pens, and journals), shaving supplies (razors and creams), toothpaste/toothbrushes, nail-clippers, glasses (big one) and toilet paper. Unusually, I guess in a post-apocalyptic world there would be huge amounts of prostitution, so condoms and any other forms of birth-control would would be valuable.

Now there are things that make life easier and more enjoyable. First, there are spices and herbs, which make food flavorful and enjoyable. Eating just plain rice and potatoes gets to you after a while. Second are tools, which help you build, do work faster, do maintenance on things, and allow you to do tasks you weren’t able to do before. These things include can openers (a must), hammers, hatchets/axes, rope, twine, screwdrivers, wrenches, scissors, calculators (in handy for measurement and building), fishing supplies like hooks and rods, gardening supplies (shovels, trowels, hoes, even tractors), hand-pumps, generators, and lastly wheels and/or tires.
Other things that make life easier include bicycles, maps, atlases, survival guides, aluminum foil, mosquito repellent, mouse traps/bug traps, rain gear (rubberized boots, pontoons, etc.), and underarmor. Other things that make life enjoyable include chocolate, powdered drinks/tang, chocolate/other sweets, pets (dogs mostly, but birds like falcons can be trained to hunt trough falconry), backpacks/bags, vegetable oil and/or butter (necessity, without you can only boil or cook directly in flame), sugar/honey, water filters, skis (winter very important for moving around) and balls (soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, baseballs, etc).

These are pretty much all the things people would desire in a post-apocalyptic world. I hope you use some of these, especially the first ones. I think the first ones about retaining your humanity have a philosophical nature about them.

I made up most of the stuff here, but a good list of some other things it this. Thelist wwas made by a Sarajevo War Veteran:

I would like to hear more about your story and good luck with your book.
