Your Questions About Paper Trading Free

Mary asks…

Does anyone know how I can complain about ebay?

i was wrongly charged extra for adding a new photo. It was a problem with ebay but when i contacted them I got 2000 words on how to reset my PC. When i replied to this, I was told ebay does not refund listing fees and that I should compare ebay prices to my local classified ads! (it’s free in my local paper!)

Again, I replied and the message I got in reply was that I owed £5.07 and gave me instrutions on how to view my invoices.

I am enraged at their evasive customer services policies and want to complain. I am only talking about 12p!! You probably think I should just pay it and shut up but the item I’m selling is only a 99p item and it has already cost me 30p to list it and paypal (an ebay company) will take 34p from that too!!

Does anyone know how I can contact ebay to complain without using their useless customer services?
Why should a virtual, faceless “marketplace” be able to avoid trading laws?

John answers:

Alas, they are a faceless corporation manned by muppets with a huge list of standard but inappropriate replies which they send willy-nilly.

Trying to get sensible answers from them is like banging your head against a wall.

Try the uk. People. Consumers. Ebay newsgroup. Someone there will know their UK phone-number.

Best of luck with it all!

Carol asks…

Why are the socialists trying to destroy the USA with the following socialist policies?

thats right, the USA has just been just too left the last several decades:

I mean look at what they did to the fact that corporate contribution to total federal tax revenues used to be 30% and now its 5%.

Look at how the federal top marginal income tax rate that used to be 70% as recently as 1980 is now 35%.

Look at how they have done away with regulations on banks and wall street allowing them to crash the economy with their free wheeling trading of bad paper.

Look at how they contrived to reduce to destroy the USA’s manufacturing base and transfer it to other countries to layoff workers, and drive down wages and benefits and raise profits.

Look at how they have allowed the border to be porous so that any illegal dirt cheap laborer can come over to help drive down wages and benefits even further and bust unions.

Look at how health care which used to be viewed as charitable work just a few decades ago is now a profit gusher?

Look at the recent debate on extention of Bush tax cuts, how they threatened to shut down govt unlesss not only the bottom 99% got extentions but that millionaires and billionaires got theirs too.

Look at the recent health care reform and how the show case change was a mandate that all americans must buy excruciatingly expensive health insurance from for profit insurers …premiums that can be say $700 a month or more to insure a family of 3.

Look at how they have our emergency rooms at hospitals charging patients $7,000 for a 3 hour visit where all that was done was a blood test, urine test and a catscan to determine why the patient was in severe pain and and was experiencing a gall stone passing.

These american socialists……..should we give them a new name? The gang that couldn’t shoot straight???

Yeah…..the USA just has been way too socialist hasnt it? We are virtually living in a communist country……yeah..socialists are destroying the country.

John answers:

Interesting. All of your points are well-stated.

Nancy asks…

Why shouldn’t the US continue its free trade policy ?

I’m writing a school paper on this topic and i’d like to know three good reasons why the US shouldnt continue its free trade policy. Please help ? 🙂 x thanks !

John answers:

(1) free trade policy brings more competition, so the domestic condition will be bad;
(2) more jobs will be lost in the country;
(3) the free trade policy needs high price

Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was signed in 1993, the rise in the U.S. Trade deficit with Canada and Mexico through 2002 has caused the displacement of production that supported 879,280 U.S. Jobs. Most of those lost jobs were high-wage positions in manufacturing industries. The loss of these jobs is just the most visible tip of NAFTA’s impact on the U.S. Economy. In fact, NAFTA has also contributed to rising income inequality, suppressed real wages for production workers, weakened workers’ collective bargaining powers and ability to organize unions, and reduced fringe benefits.

Chris asks…

40% of the US GDP is STILL Wall Street trading paper promises, what could possibly go wrong with that?

It creates a handful of jobs, huge bonuses and maybe, someday, someone will ask to make good on that promise…….

1) Great IDEA…and it is “Clean and Environmentally Friendly” work!

2) I think I have seen how this movie ends….and it isn’t pretty…..

3) Geeez…when will the SEC regulate that stuff? It is going to happen all over again!

4) Just give the “Free Market” time to work, everything will be fine….Alfred, fly the Horses to the Caymans…and be quick about it!!!

5) How can I get me some of that sweet sweet honey?????

6) Mr President!…Step in!…I won’t be angry!……..

John answers:

We are built on a stack of cards.

Sandra asks…

Do you agree or disagree with NAFTA?

I’m having to write a research paper on how the North American Free Trade Agreement affected the social structure of the community I live in.
I was hoping to get some opinions on NAFTA . I’m not to sure how I feel about it as of yet, I’ve only read about 10-12 articles and what not.

John answers:

I disagree with NAFTA and all other free trade agreements. NAFTA allows American corporations to go into other countries and pay the locals about 25 cents per hour, in terrible working conditions, with terrible environmental protections, it allows America to dominate and control other countries. ACtually Mexico used to have a provision in their constitution stating land for the landless, now that provision is wiped. Support fair trade policies. No more evil child laboir in third world countries so Americans can have cheap oil and coffee.
